Pedal The Werld!
Many years ago, I had the idea to somehow convert cycling technology into marine applications. I didn’t have the technological know- how back then.. so I let the idea fade into oblivion. Or so I thought. Then I read about Greg Kolodziejzyk and “Pedal The Ocean” and.. initially and for a split second I was despondent.. someone had arrived at the answers that I craved. And made them a reality. Then.. a split second later.. I was elated that someone had answered my ponderances.. with physical ramifications.
He was supposed to leave from Tofino, BC (on the West Coast of Vancouver Island) last spring, approximately, for Hawaii. But there was no news.. no sudden anything. And since there were no updates~ as he was always updating with information~ the idea slowly settled back into the dust and ashes of a mind long gone to fallow. That is, until 48 hours ago when a friend sparked the imagination kettle and I went searching out Mr. Kolodziejzyk.. who’s trail did seem to have gone somewhat cold.
At first, I visited his FaceBook page.. where I first found out about him. Nothing new there.. but there was the link to his main website.. so I thought I’d give that a try and lo and behold.. the information that hit me was astounding.. WiTHiN (the name of his boat) was for sale. For personal reasons, he had to cut his project short and now was in the arena of divesting himself of the boat. For a mere 84,000$ CDN.
So.. I’ve started a rockethub project to raise 95,000$~ enough to cover the purchase of WiTHiN, ship it to Vancouver, and set up storage/ moorage for it here… and my goal isn’t to peddle to Hawaii but to circumnavigate the globe. It’s a long journey.. and there’s a LOT I need to learn before I head out to sea for even the first time.. but I believe in cycling. I love cycling. It’s a method of transportation that has no equal. Not even driving a motorcycle (and I’ve done that a lot as well). Nothing compares to being able to carry yourself from point A to point B.. all on your own.
So.. to cycle around the world.. the wet parts (and maybe take a few sight seeing trips on the roadways of different countries). That’s the project. For now.
